Lessons of Surah At-Takathur (102 The Rivalry in World Increase)

Ustadh Michael Wolfender and his 5th grade class stage a play to help teach the lessons of Surah At-Takathur (102 The Rivalry in World Increase). Students take us through each verse to understand that the meaning of this surah focuses on mankind’s inherent race for more things in this world which distract us from attraction to Our Creator. Allah states in At-Takathur how many things are a distraction until visiting graves or death. He repeats this warning, as many humans cling to the adage of “I’ll believe it when I see it.” At 3:40, we learn how Allah clearly states the fact that there is a life in the hereafter as truth – that there is certainty in the hereafter we will all attain after judgment. Ustadh Michael concludes the lesson at 4:15 explaining how belief can be attained, in this instance for the hereafter, by defeating the “I’ll believe it when I see it” mentality.
