Sister Maysa’s 2nd grade class teaches us the lessons of Surah Az-Zalzalah (99 The Earthquake). Yusuf defines the name of the surah as ‘the shaking of a huge earthquake.’ Rayyan Mustafa explains the earth will shake violently over and over until it becomes empty. The class tells when this will occur on the Day of Judgment. Haroon explains the earth will testify the events which have occurred on it by ‘telling its news.’ Zareen elaborates that this includes everything that has occurred on the earth, as it is a witness over the entirety of time. Arwa explains that this can only occur with Allah’s Command. Amani explains then everyone will receive an accounting of the deeds from their lifetime, both good and bad. Isa shares the lesson that Allah sees everything, even what is most tiny. Sumaya reminds us the solution is to do as many good deeds as possible.
